In simplest terms, timbre is what makes a particular sound unique from another sound.
"The Shake Down brings Austin’s rising blues, jazz, and soul musicians together at Antone’s night club October 27th to raise awareness, funds, and toasts for Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ (MLF) solution to homelessness — a sustainable network of directly provided food, clothes, shelter, and mentor services. Local feverishly hot musical phenoms Tameca Jones, Eric Tessmer, and Slowtrain will arrest souls and toss bodies wildly about.
Overall Events is proud to announce MLF’s Community First! program, which provides homeless people who have mental or physical disabilities with a refurbished mobile home in one of several participating Austin mobile home communities. Elected program members pay rent and utilities using money from federal disabilities income. Food and clothing services are provided by MLF and several other organizations who work in tandem to provide homeless services. Eventually MLF aims to dedicate an entire parcel of land to a Community First! mobile home park.
In honor of the night’s celebration, MLF will park one of its refurbished mobile homes in front of Antone’s, and Community First! program members – some who are musicians themselves – will be in attendance. MLF founder and president Alan Graham will thank the audience and introduce a brief compelling video on Community First!. The night’s primary goal is to raise at least enough money to take one homeless person off the street.Based in Austin, Texas, with operations in 6 states, Mobile Loaves and Fishes is the beneficiary of the night’s proceeds. Overall Events is an event production company in Austin, Texas, focused on raising awareness and support for its favorite non-profits through live music events.” from http://mlf.org/2011/10/18/antone%C2%B9s-night-club-october-27th-to-raise-awareness-funds-and-toasts-for-mobile-loaves-fishes/
“I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts. Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood. It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene. It was a necessity for me-like food or water.”—Ray Charles
